Gudrun Dahlkvist is a thrilling young conductor, with deep an honest musicality running through her veins, her uncomplicated and easy way of leading makes the music speak, powerful and vivid. She started as violinist educated in Stockholm and Paris. As conductor she studied for Merete Ellegaard, Catherine Winnes and Maria Eklund.
This summer she conducted her first opera production at Höga Kusten Opera, Miss Julie by Margareta Hallin and Gala Concert in Vattnäs Concert Barn with, among others, Anna Larsson, Göran Eliasson, Maja Frydén and Simon Petersson in a wide range of repertoir, such as Siegfried Idyll, Mahler Rückertlieder and Elisabeths aria from Tannhäuser and Rusalkas aria.
The future looks bright for this young conductor. In 2020 she will conduct Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and an entire programme with Sundsvalls Orkesterförening.
Despite her young age Gudrun has already played violin and been concert master with great orchestras as the major Swedish ones and Orchestre Radio France, but her urge to communicate and to be part of the creating process of orchestra playing made her take the step in to conducting. Her rich musicality and charismatic personality makes it clear that she will be a truly great conductor.
