Maja Frydén graduated from Stockholm University College of Opera in 2015 and has with her young, dramatic soprano already participated in three productions at the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
First as Donna Elvira in ”Min bror är Don Juan” (My Brother is Don Juan), then as The Doctor in ”Min mamma är en Drake” (My Mother is a dragon) and now as the Soprano soloist in Myriads of Worlds, touring both Norway and Hong Kong International Arts Festival in the summer of 2019 and with guest performances at The Malmö Opera in the fall of 2019.
Swedish Wagner Society has chosen Maja Frydén as the 2020 Bayreuth Laureate.
In July 2019 Maja made her Wagner debut as Freia in Das Rheingold in Vattnäs concert barn which she got raving reviews for.
”..the biggest vocal discovery, for non-swedes who didn’t know her theatre work already, was Larsson's pupil Maja Frydén. Tall and striking she could almost be another Lise Davidsen in the making, though more likely to specialize in Strauss than in Wagner (she would make a wonderful Arabella). Freia sing just about enough to make her mark but it was the concert that confirmed her major talent. Frydén opened it, appropriately, with Elisabeth’s greeting from Tannhäuser and later melted the entire audience with Rusalkas song to the moon. ... Her dramatization in Sibelius’s great ballad-song Flickan kom ifrån sin älsklings möte” (The returned from meeting her lover) did not pale alongside the classic Flagstad version.” -David Nice, The artsdesk
-Olyrix
”... her voice resources are on a level that makes it evident that she will soon be featured in bigger roles.” -Göran Forsling, Seen and heard
In 2020 and 2021 a lot of her engagements have been canceled because of the pandemic.
Recently productions in spring 2022 was "Dying Young" at Folkoperan and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte at Vattnäs Concert Barn in summer 2022. In season 2022-23 she sang "Flyg vart du vill" at The Royal Opera in Stockholm.
