Lars-Erik Larsson’s God in Disguise is a deeply moving combination of poetry and music. With Hjalmar Gullberg’s text at its core, this beloved cantata weaves a story of divine humanity, humility and compassion, revolving around universal themes of love and kindness. Tomas von Brömssen narrates.
First, we hear a rare piece by Valborg Aulin from her Missa sollemnis, a peaceful and profound appeal for eternal rest. It offers a sample of Aulin’s talent and sensitivity, as one of Sweden’s pioneering female composers.
The concert concludes with Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 3, Sinfonia Espansiva, which was composed during a period of personal and creative growth. Together, these works emanate a sense of expansiveness – a spirit, energy and humanity – that culminates in a radiant celebration of life.
