We proudly welcome mezzosoprano Eira Sjaastad Huse to Eliasson Artists Management.

Eira Huse is noted for her «extraordinary stage presence and a burnished, penetratingly full mezzo-soprano» (Bachtrack) FUTURE HIGHLIGHTS Mitsuko Uchida has invited Eira to work with her on Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder at Marlboro Music Festival. Eira will perform in concerts in the festival, that is heades is headed by artists such as Mitsuko Uchida, Jonathan Biss and composer Helmut Lachenmann (Summer 2023) Soloist performance in the contemporary baby opera «Orfeus’ trøst» by Maja S. K. Ratkje at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet (2023)

In 2022 the Norwegian mezzo made her debut in the title role of Bizet’s Carmen with Opera
Rogaland. She has performed roles in opera houses such as Opéra de Lyon, Royal Opera House
Muscat and The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet receiving rave reviews. She has performed in
recitals at festivals such as The Verbier Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival, Marlboro Music, Oslo
Church Music Festival and Oslo Chamber Music Festival. Eira Huse is passionate about lieder and
chamber music, and has been personally mentored by Dame Mitsuko Uchida in lieder by
Schubert and Schumann. She will study Mahler’s Rückert Lieder with Uchida in the summer of
2023. She has worked with conductors, musicians and directors such as Titus Engel, Grégoire
Pont, James Bonas, Einar Bjørge, Georg Quander, Andreas Heise and James Bailleu.


Her interest in contemporary music has given her the opportunity to collaborate with some of the

most exciting up-and-coming composers of today, in festivals such as Festival d’Aix-en-
Provence.

The mezzo-soprano has recieved a two-year stipendium from the Arts Council Norway, and a

one-year work grant from Lilly-stipendet. She is a prize winner of Kammeropera Schloss-
Rheinsberg 2019 and a first prize winner of NINA Grieg Solo Competition.

Eira Huse also composes, and has studied composition at The Norwegian Academy of Music.
She has collaborated as a performer-composer with The Norwegian National Ballet (2020) and
wrote the chamber opera «Scenes From A Beehive» in 2014.
When she doesn’t sing, she enjoys biking around in Oslo, as well as all-year round outdoor baths
in the fjords!
